Davide Bittelli

Davide is currently pursuing a PhD in Underwater Acoustics and Seismology at CNRS–LMA in Marseille, France, focusing on offshore wind farms and noise mitigation strategies for pile driving.

During his master’s in Statistics and Data Science, he spent a year at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) in the US, where he began working with bioacoustic data. His research interests have since expanded, spanning from underwater noise pollution and bioacoustics to machine learning, advanced data visualization techniques, and the development of R Shiny applications.

Following his master’s, he worked for one year at the German Oceanographic Museum (DMM), evaluating PAL effectiveness in the Baltic Sea as an alerting system to reduce bycatch of harbor porpoises.

In his free time, he loves to go rock climbing and, when possible, surfing.
